The Estonian government has announced plans to construct a new multi-purpose indoor arena capable of accommodating at least 10,000 spectators for sporting events. This initiative aims to address the limitations of the current largest venue, Unibet Arena, which seats up to 7,200 for sports and 10,000 for concerts. Due to the project's scale and limited profitability for private investors, the government intends to establish two national funds, to support the development of this project. Tallinn is set to host the prestigious Tall Ships Races sailing regatta from July 11–14, 2028. Following the success of the 2024 event, which attracted 58 ships from 14 countries and over 2,000 crew members and trainees, the city has been chosen once again as a host port. Deputy Mayor Kaarel Oja expressed pride in Tallinn's maritime heritage and its role in fostering international friendship through sail training.
