On Wednesday, the Riigikogu approved a law banning the sale of flavored heated tobacco products. The legislation, which passed with 68 votes in favor, seven against, and one abstention, aims to reduce the appeal of tobacco products, particularly among young people. Click here to learn more

Starting May 26, Lux Express will introduce nine new double-decker buses on the Tallinn–Tartu route, adding over 500 seats daily. The Riigikogu (primarily the people in the current coalition) has voted down opposition proposals to reduce the VAT on food products, citing concerns over state budget constraints and the potential ineffectiveness of such a measure in reducing food prices. Estonia is advancing plans to establish a centralized loans database within the next three years. The Ministry of Finance has drafted legislation to create a register that will consolidate individuals' financial obligations to credit institutions. A suitcase spontaneously caught fire at Tallinn Airport after a lithium battery inside exploded. The incident, captured on video, occurred in the terminal and was quickly contained by airport staff. Tallinn has appointed a dedicated nature ranger to oversee the city's conservation areas, including Merimetsa, Harku Forest, Pääsküla Bog, and the Paljassaare Special Conservation Area.
