π Startups
Estonia has climbed to 11th place globally in startup rankings, with Tallinn entering the top 50 startup cities worldwide for the first time. The country's startup ecosystem grew 34% annually, securing $266.9 million in funding and ranking 2nd globally in the Transportation sector thanks to unicorns like Bolt and Veriff. Tallinn now almost leads Eastern Europe and ranks 9th in the EU, jumping from 66th place in 2020 to 49th in 2025. Click here to learn more

Tallinn has announced the launch of "Baltic Green Ventures," a new β¬100 million venture capital fund dedicated to supporting green technology startups across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. The fund, backed by both private investors and Baltic governments, will focus on early-stage companies developing breakthrough solutions in sustainable development, renewable energy, and the circular economy. Tallinn is creating an affordable housing strategy by fall to help 50,000 residents, including teachers and public workers, who struggle with housing costs. π Patrol
Tallinn's ambulance bike patrol is back for summer season, already responding to 21 calls since June 1. The team covers Central Tallinn with 3-5 minute response times, carrying the same equipment as regular ambulances in reduced form. Japanese exchange students Musubi Miyashita and Jiu Miura came to Estonia after being captivated by the Song and Dance Festival and learned Estonian in just 10 months. Both will perform in next month's Song Festival choir after attending local high schools in Loo and Kohila. The teens found Estonian grammar and pronunciation challenging compared to Japanese, with Miyashita noting Estonians' reserved nature was difficult to adjust to. The Estonian Padel Association joined the Estonian Olympic Committee as the tennis-like Mexican sport explodes in popularity. Nearly 5,000 people now play padel in Estonia across 100+ courts, with 60 located in Tallinn alone.
